The Dua that Covers More Than You Know

The dua — "Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire" — doesn't just ask Allah for good. It asks in a way that covers every single way Allah responds!!

The Prophet ﷺ said: "There is no Muslim who calls upon Allah with a supplication that does not involve sin or severing ties of kinship, except that Allah will give him one of three things: either He will quickly fulfill his supplication, or He will store it for him in the Hereafter, or He will avert an equivalent harm from him." (Musnad Ahmad, 11133 — authenticated)

These three responses align perfectly with the three requests in the dua!

SubhanAllah! Allah literally taught us in the Quran to ask for his 3 responses! This is the very definition of Mercy!

SubhanAllah. This encourages me to make dua even more! …and to be consistent in the moments when the answer isn't what I expected.

But among them is he who says, "Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire." (201)

Those will have a share of what they have earned, and Allāh is swift in account. (202)
