The Big Drumstick

Today, I was volunteering at a soup kitchen. We were packing to-go dinner boxes. Each box got a piece of meatloaf, one piece of chicken, a scoop of corn and a scoop of rice.

I was at the end of the assembly line placing a fork in the container and sealing the box. As the each plate reached me, I noticed how some had huge pieces of chicken. Others had really small pieces.

Each time I saw a huge piece of chicken was in the dinner box, I couldn't help but think of the verses where Allah mentions how he extends his rizq (provision) to whoever he wants. I now see this in every aspect of life and in every walk of life.

Even a homeless person in line at a soup kitchen receives a form of Allah's abundant provision.

Do they not know that Allāh extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]? Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.
